Too many months have passed without an answer on the “Delcy Case”, where the violation of European orders by the Pedro Sánchez government and the dictatorial regime of Nicolás Maduro are being investigated. The European Parliament, in the Petitions Committee, has echoed, focusing the debate on whether to reopen the investigation of this case, which at the time violated the sanctions imposed by the European Union on the Venezuelan drug dictatorship.
Hermann Tertsch, VOX MEP, has described as "Grotesque" having to "listen to certain voices claiming that the European Parliament should not interfere in the violation of European orders to a country that has been formally accused by the UN of crimes against humanity." In plenary session, the VOX MEP recalled that this is an issue "that worries Spaniards a lot", since we are faced with "the confirmation of a special relationship of complicity between the Spanish government and a criminal regime that starves and expels millions of Venezuelans”.
Tertscht has insisted that whoever denies that this great problem does not interest or does not compete in Europe "causes contempt for the European spirit, dignity, decency and honesty that we need to defend human rights everywhere." Along the same lines, he has urged the need to open a new investigation "to find out what happened and to appease the suspicions of so many Spaniards." At the same time, he has criticized Borrell's attitude for the inappropriate defense that he makes of the Sánchez government: "to investigate and explain what has happened without arrogance and not to defend the Spanish government, which is not his role" has snapped.
📢 "Whoever says that the European Parliament has nothing to say about the #Delcygate it despises the European spirit and the dignity necessary to defend human rights everywhere. "
