The president of the CEOE, Antonio Garamendi, participated last October 8 in the Dual VET Forum in which he argued that education is a key factor to boost business competitiveness and the qualification of workers, to improve employability.
Garamendi expressed concern about the percentage of the population without primary education, rates of early school leaving beyond its compulsory level, the number of people with university studies versus the number of people in Vocational Training or youth unemployment rates.
Likewise, he emphasized that Dual FP is a great opportunity to improve training and employability of workers. As he said, work is already underway in this regard and the figures are beginning to evolve: currently there are 32% more students enrolled in FP than in high school.
The new economy and the Spanish business fabric in general demand necessary and profound changes in this area and, for this, the CEOE president proposed the adaptation of measures such as:
The necessary updating and permanent training of teachers with the business contest and social agents.
The establishment of a common regulatory framework for the promotion and consolidation of Dual Vocational Training that facilitates the incorporation of SMEs to this type of training; or the development of an integrated professional training and information system.
The sessions also served to emphasize the need to adjust the qualifications demanded by companies and the education offered to unemployed youth.
