The Civil Guard celebrates the seventh day of “Equal opportunities in the Civil Guard: Beijing + 25 MPS + 20”

It has taken stock of the progress made in the empowerment of women and gender equality, and the strategies that are being put in place to face the challenges and achieve the objectives set

The Civil Guard has celebrated today the seventh day of "Equal opportunities in the Civil Guard: Beijing + 25, MPS +20" at the headquarters of the General Directorate of the Body in Madrid.

The director general of the Civil Guard, María Gámez, together with the director of the Women's Institute, Beatriz Gimeno, have inaugurated the event, and the Secretary of State for Security, Rafael Pérez, will be in charge of closing it.
María Gámez has begun her intervention by ensuring that with this act the Civil Guard shows its commitment to effective equality between men and women.
He also indicated that "we live a strong feminist movement and a global impulse in recent years that is unstoppable." There have been advances that “would not have been possible, surely, without the World Conference on Women held in Beijing in 1995, which resulted in the‘ Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action ’. A road map in favor of the empowerment of women and girls that set 12 strategies or areas of action, both for governments and civil society, to break down obstacles and promote the advancement of equality between men and women ”.
“This morning we will have the opportunity to know the milestones in matters of equality within the Civil Guard. There are currently 5,840 women, less than 8% of the 76,600 troops in the Corps. Insufficient data that should grow, just as the presence of women in the highest positions of responsibility should increase because as women rise in rank, women are less. ”
The Director General has stressed that we must work in this area until women form a crítica critical mass ’in the Institution. In this task “the First Civil Guard Equality Plan, effective since July 2019, will help us, because the Civil Guard must be a reflection of the society it serves. That is why it must advance in equality, internally, but also to be a reference for the citizens themselves, so that people see it as an institution similar to them, because it is they who serves and helps. ”

VII day of equal opportunities
