The Civil Guard detains 36 people for cultivation and trafficking of marijuana in two operations carried out in Córdoba and Cádiz
In Puente Genil (Córdoba), within the VIRIDI LUX operation, 16 drug outlets and 15 “indoor” type marijuana plantations have been dismantled, located in several neighborhoods in the town
On the other hand, within the CHULENGO operation, 22 marijuana plantations installed inside different homes on a section of a street in the municipality of Puerto Serrano (Cádiz) have been dismantled.
The Civil Guard, in the course of two operations, carried out in Córdoba and Cádiz, has arrested 36 people for the cultivation and trafficking of marijuana. In total, about 7,500 marijuana plants have been apprehended.
VIRIDI LUX operation
The Civil Guard, within the framework of the "Viridi LUX" operation, has detained 22 people belonging to a criminal group in Puente Genil (Córdoba) dedicated to drug trafficking and the production and cultivation of marijuana in large quantities and it has been investigated more than 200 people for the alleged commission of a crime of defrauding electricity.
The investigations began at the end of last year, when the Civil Guard learned that several people could be dedicating themselves to growing marijuana inside homes located in several neighborhoods of Puente Genil. It should be noted that the agents had already dismantled several marijuana plantations, within the framework of the Viridi and Viridi II operations, carried out last year.
From the data and analysis obtained in the first two operations linked to citizen collaboration, in the investigation phase of this operation, the agents were able to verify that 20 houses in Puente Genil could be growing marijuana and trafficking in other types of narcotic substances.
The first investigations allowed to locate 15 houses that supposedly housed the plantations in a neighborhood of the town and another 5 in other neighborhoods of the same.
For this reason, the Civil Guard proceeded to register 20 homes, locating in 15 of them an intensive plantation of “Cannabis Sativa” (marijuana), type “Indoor”, in the growth phase, as well as numerous materials and effects that were part of a complex and sophisticated system of elaboration and cultivation for marijuana such as extractors, temperature meters, current generators and lights that were intervened.
A high consumption of electrical energy was necessary for the operation of the facilities, which is why an illegal 'hook' had been practiced in all the homes to the general connection to the electrical network. In this way they maximized profits and minimized production costs.
As a result of the records carried out, 1,900 marijuana plants, more than 500 doses of cocaine, more than 360 of heroin, all of them prepared and arranged for sale, several precision scales, a modified short firearm, were intervened. various stab weapons, as well as effects related to the cultivation, processing and maintenance of marijuana plants and illicit effects.
Likewise, during the development of the registers, the Civil Guard provided support to technicians from the ENDESA company, who detected hundreds of illegal connections to the electricity network in the neighborhoods that were the object of the registers, for which reason the instructions of the pertinent investigative measures to more than 200 people, for the alleged commission of a crime of defrauding electricity.
The investigations have been conducted by the Investigation Area of the Civil Guard of the Main Post of Puente Genil, with the support of Citizen Security personnel from the said Post.
In the exploitation phase of the operation, more than 200 civil guards from the Citizen Security Units of the Cordoba Command, Cynological Service with dogs trained in drug detection, the Civil Guard Air Service, as well as Security patrols have intervened. Citizen of the Posts of Puente Genil, Rute, Benamejí among others, as well as members of the Rural Security Groups based in Madrid and Seville.
CHULENGO operation
The Civil Guard, in the operation called CHULENGO, has arrested 14 people in Puerto Serrano (Cádiz) and has dismantled 22 marijuana plantations installed inside different homes on a section of a street in the town.
In total, around 5,500 marijuana plants have been apprehended, in addition to 3 high-end vehicles, one of them valued at more than 70,000 euros, and the electrical elements necessary to carry out these indoor crops, such as high-power lamps with their accumulators power, wall fans, air conditioning equipment, carbon filters to mask the characteristic odor of these crops, exhaust fans, etc.
Members of the network played a specific role ranging from installers of electrical infrastructure, to those who dedicated themselves to exporting production between different points of the national geography, passing through employees who exploited crops and ending with those responsible for the same.
One of the leaders of the group controlled most of the intervened plantations, having several residents who worked as caretakers and caretakers, either in their own homes or in houses occupied by banks.
On October 20, the operation of the operation was carried out with a wide deployment of agents. House searches were carried out all over the street, requiring several extensions to the judicial orders, since from one record another plantation was visible, until completing a total of 19 entrances and registries and the voluntary surrender of 3 other plantations , which their owners handed over upon seeing the deployment made. This entire device was supported from the air by a Corps helicopter that minimized the risk of flight.
It is worth noting the behavior of the mother of the main objective of the operation, who upon realizing the arrest of her son and the search of her home and others controlled by him, threatened to kill one of the civil guards of the Puerto Serrano Post, as well as her entire family, repeating these threats against the mayor of the town whom she came to attack, since she was furious that the councilor had not warned her of the operation that was being carried out. These threats were extended to the residents of the municipality through social networks. For all these reasons, he was also arrested.
The proceedings carried out together with the detainees have been brought to justice by the Investigating Court number 2 of those of Arcos de la Frontera (Cádiz).
The operation was carried out by civil guards from the Arcos de la Frontera Judicial Police Team, who had the support of agents from the Puerto Serrano Post, the Citizen Security Unit (USECIC) and the Company's citizen security units. from Villamartín.
