The Civil Guard has arrested a man who fled and threw himself into the sea when he was going to be identified by agents in the town of Las Galletas.
Agents of the Civil Guard belonging to the Playa de las Américas Company, when they were serving on the 12th, located a man who was on public roads in the town of Las Galletas. When going to identify him in order to know the reason for being outside his home, he began to run carrying a bag in his hand and heading towards the coast.
When he was already near the sea and despite the orders of the agents to depose his attitude and stop the flight, he threw himself into the sea in a rocky area, being able to observe the agents as he submerged and emerged swimming with difficulties, managing to hold on to a rock until it was out of sight.
A search device was immediately activated to locate him, which was maintained throughout the day with a negative result and in which the following units of the Civil Guard and emergency services participated: Mountain Rescue and Intervention Group (GREIM) , Provincial Maritime Service, Citizen Security Unit (USECIC), helicopter and GES personnel, Arona Local Police, Arona Civil Protection, etc.
Parallel to the search and in the night hours of the same day, the Civil Guard received a complaint from a woman for the disappearance of her husband, who had not returned home after going for a walk. After investigating the agents if it could be the man who had been thrown into the sea, all the indications related to age, complexion and other circumstances confirmed that it was the same person.
First thing the next day, we continued with the location work. However, at approximately 12:00 hours, the accused voluntarily appeared at the Main Post of the Civil Guard of Playa de las Américas, telling the agents that during the search device he was hidden in a cave until 23:00 : 00 hours he abandoned her and went to her home. At that time, the agents proceeded to his immediate arrest as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of serious disobedience to the agents of the authority in relation to the measures established in the Royal Decree of the State of Alarm, making him available to the Investigating Court No. 4 of Arona.
