The Civil Guard detains a person in Toledo claimed by the Italian authorities for large-scale drug trafficking

The Italian authorities consider him the leader of a criminal organization that introduced large amounts of cocaine from Colombia through human "mules" in different countries, for which he was sentenced to a sentence of more than 13 years in prison.

Although initially he was sought on the Costa del Sol as a possible hiding place, the fugitive was arrested in the province of Toledo thanks to a complaint of gender violence

The Civil Guard, in the so-called Rubio operation, has detained M.R.A, 45, of Colombian nationality, in the province of Toledo, claimed by the Italian authorities for crimes related to drug trafficking and belonging to a criminal organization.

The operation begins through the ROS of L´Aquila del Arma de Carabinieri Italiana, the body in charge of the investigation in that country, through the activation of an O.E.D.E (European Order of Detention and Surrender).

This O.E.D.E is derived from the commission of crimes related to international drug trafficking; specifically, he is accused of leading a criminal organization dedicated to the importation of large quantities of cocaine from Colombia to Italy with transit through Spain by means of human "mules", for which he was sentenced to a prison term of more than 13 years, as well as for the improper use and falsification of credit cards.

This first information placed the fled in the province of Malaga, who could be using documentation from a relative.

Complaint for gender violence

This information was quickly discarded, when agents from the Justice Fleeing Team of the Civil Guard's Central Operative Unit (UCO) found that MRA's sentimental partner had suffered an attack on him in the field of gender violence. in the province of Toledo, and that the now detained would have forced his partner to withdraw the complaint in court.

Given these facts, the investigators intensified surveillance in the surroundings of M.R.A., treating the case as a top priority given the possibility that another episode of violence could be repeated with greater severity.

In this way, the agents were able to locate and arrest the fugitive in the Toledo municipality of Pueblanueva leaving a home, a place where he had been hiding for several months.

Extradition to Italy

After his arrest, the detainee was placed at the disposal of the Investigative Court number 4 of the National Court, and after the corresponding extradition proceedings and procedures, last Wednesday he was transferred and handed over to the Investigation Unit of the Provincial Command of Teramo del Carabineri gun at the Milan – Malpensa airport.

The investigation has been carried out by the Team for Fleeing Justice of the Central Operational Unit (UCO) of the Civil Guard, supported by different Units of the Toledo Command.
