The Civil Guard has detained two people in Sabiñánigo (Huesca) for occupying several houses that were empty due to the inability of their owners to move during the state of alarm.
The now detainees, a 35-year-old man and a 46-year-old woman, are accused of the alleged crimes of usurpation of housing, fraud of electricity, damages and serious disobedience to the agents of the authority.
The action was carried out after receiving a call from a citizen in the Sabiñánigo barracks on March 31, informing that he had a second home in that town and that a neighbor had warned him that there were people inside. Once at the scene, the agents identify the people who were at the residence, indicating that they should leave the house.
Subsequently, on April 4, the doorman of another housing building in the town of Sabiñánigo notified the Civil Guard that he had observed significant damage in common areas and that he feared that someone had occupied a house in the building, due to the impossibility of its legitimate owners to be able to move and access it, due to the mobility limitations established in the Royal Decree due to the state of alarm.
After the agents verified that one of the homes in the building had been illegally occupied, they notified the Jaca Judicial Police Team when they had indications that they could be the same people identified above.
The Jaca Judicial Police Team organized a device to locate the alleged perpetrators of the events, since it was suspected that they were using several homes to avoid drawing too much attention to one building.
On April 8, these same people were located on public roads, so the agents proceeded to arrest them.
After checking the identity of the detainees, the man had numerous records for all kinds of crimes, and both he and the woman, since March 21, had been denounced up to 9 times for breaching mobility restrictions. In addition, it was found that in some of the offenses committed, they were making the trips together, for these events a crime of disobedience has also been attributed to the agents of the authority.
The detainees along with the proceedings investigated were placed at the disposal of Investigating Court number 1 of Jaca.
The investigation is still open in order to determine if the now detainees had occupied any other home.
