The Civil Guard, within the framework of the VALQUIA operation, carried out in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, has detained 7 people belonging to a criminal group dedicated to committing robberies with violence and intimidation in establishments. The detainees are attributed the alleged responsibility for the robbery committed with violence in two mini casinos in the south of the island.

Five house searches have been carried out in the town of El Fraile, where a large number of objects have been intervened, such as: high-end watches, various mobile phones, tablets, laptops, as well as cash. In addition, the knives and clothing with which they allegedly committed crimes have also been intervened.

The operation began in January, following the robberies committed in the mini casinos where a group of people, using balaclavas and clothes to hide their appearance, armed with large knives and an electric shock device to intimidate, violently assaulted one of the mini casinos in the municipality of Arona, taking around 4,000 euros with them.

After these events, the agents began an investigation to determine the identity of the alleged perpetrators, being able to verify the violent nature of the assailants and their danger.

Continuing with the investigations, this group of people was located. Likewise, the agents found out that this group was dedicated to carrying out criminal actions against the patrimony, these being of a repetitive and violent nature, since if they met people who could hinder the result expected by them, they did not hesitate to use physical violence on the themselves.

For this reason, its 7 members were arrested, six of them residing in the town of El Fraile and one in the town of Puerto del Rosario, belonging to the island of Lanzarote.

The objects intervened are being studied to find out their origin, in case they were related to other crimes.

The operation has been carried out by agents of the Civil Guard belonging to the Organic Unit of the Judicial Police of the Commandery of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and directed by the Investigating Court number 2 of Arona.
