The Civil Guard dismantles an organization dedicated to the distribution of cocaine in Spain and Portugal
There are 14 people detained in Pontevedra, Valencia and Portugal, and almost half a ton of cocaine has been intervened
They transported the drug in vehicles with double bottoms and in a trailer with a very sophisticated concealment system
The introduction in Spain of an important shipment of cocaine that the organization had very advanced has been aborted
The Civil Guard, within the framework of the Mansalva operation, has dismantled a criminal organization dedicated to introducing cocaine by sea, which it later distributed to different parts of the Iberian Peninsula. In the operation 475 kilos of cocaine have been seized and there are a total of 14 people arrested: 11 in Pontevedra, two in Valencia and one in Portugal.
In the nine records carried out, the Civil Guard also intervened 12,000 euros in cash, 12 satellite phones, four vehicles equipped with double bottoms and a trailer equipped with a sophisticated hydraulic hiding system, in which the organization moved more of 300 kilos of cocaine. Also, the Civil Guard has discovered an indoor marijuana plantation with a thousand plants that belonged to the organization.
Investigations began last year, when Civil Guard specialists in the fight against organized crime learned of the existence of a criminal group based in Pontevedra, made up of people with a history of drug trafficking.
In July last year, the investigation frustrated the delivery of more than 300 kilos of cocaine that had been transferred from Galicia to Valencia. There the drug was intervened in a garage in the town of Quart de Poblet (Valencia), when it was being guarded by two members of the organization, who were arrested at that time.
Subsequently, advances in research frustrated another delivery of 175 kilograms of cocaine in Portugal, which had been transferred from the province of Pontevedra. The Judicial Police of Porto and the Republican National Guard seized this game in the vicinity of the town of Coimbra (Portugal) and arrested the person who transported the drug.
A sophisticated trailer
The Civil Guard discovered the curious system used by the organization, consisting of a trailer, apparently empty, but equipped with a sophisticated hydraulic system that concealed a double bottom with capacity for more than 300 kilograms. Several shuttle vehicles lowered the cargo. The organization had very advanced contacts and preparations for the introduction of a significant amount of cocaine that, by sea, would arrive in Galicia from South America. The Civil Guard has managed to abort this shipment by detaining all its members.
In one of the records carried out on detainees' properties, an indoor marijuana plantation has been found, in full capacity, with over a thousand plants.
The detainees used advanced technical means to avoid being detected and invested significant amounts of money in technology, to obtain secure communications and detect police investigation means.
The Mansalva operation is directed by the Courts of Instruction number 1 and 3 of Quart de Poblet (Valencia), and has had the coordination of the drug prosecutions of Valencia and Pontevedra. It has been carried out by the Team Against Organized Crime (ECO), based in Galicia, of the Central Operating Unit of the Civil Guard, with the collaboration of the ECO of Alicante, the Organic Judicial Police Units of Pontevedra and Cádiz, GRS No. 7, Citizen Security Unit (USECIC), Cinological Service and other support services of the Civil Guard Command of Pontevedra.
