The Civil Guard intervenes 125,000 "cannabis" plants in eight hemp plantations
Six people have been arrested as responsible for seven plantations and an illegal cannabis dryer
The wintering farms, which covered twenty hectares of production, have been located in the Almeria municipality of Huércal (Almería), where plantations in an advanced state of growth have been intervened and one of them in the drying process
It was also detected that the authors made sales of cannabis to individuals through couriers and whose final destination was consumption
The Civil Guard, within the framework of the "ÉBANO" operation, carried out in the province of Almería, has intervened 125,000 cannabis plants in different stages of production in seven wintering farms and a drying room, and has arrested six people as authors of a Crime against public health.
During the frequent inspections carried out by the Civil Guard to control the cultivation of industrial hemp, the agents located in the municipality of Huércal de Almería (Almería), seven “cannabis” cultivation farms whose production is not intended for industrial purposes.
In addition, during the inspections, the agents found another farm intended as a drying room with the cannabis plants already cut and hung upside down on the wires for drying.
Based on the investigation, the Civil Guard agents found out that the detainees made sales of cannabis to individuals through couriers, whose final destination was consumption, not fulfilling any of the allowed assumptions.
After the inspections, the Civil Guard agents intervened a total of 125,000 cannabis plants. Due to the large number of plants intervened, this type of action entails a great effort in the cutting process to then proceed to its destruction.
Hemp cultivation
This cultivation is allowed either if it is intended exclusively for industrial purposes, that is, those whose destination is the production of fiber or seeds, or if with the express authorization of the Spanish Agency for Medicines and Health Products (AEMPS) it is intended for scientific purposes. , medical or research.
For all the above, six people, responsible for the crops, are arrested as the perpetrators of a crime against public health. The proceedings, the drug seized, and the detainees were made available to the Investigating Court no. 5 of Almería acting as Guard (Almería).
