The agents have had the collaboration of the CARM Animal Health Service, the Cleaning and Disinfection Service, the 'El Valle' Fauna and Flora Recovery Center in Murcia and an animal recovery center in Mazarrón

In collaboration with the Moratalla Local Police

The Civil Guard, in collaboration with the Local Police of Moratalla (Murcia), has carried out the 'Campanero' operation, in which a neighbor of Moratalla has been investigated as the alleged perpetrator of two crimes related to the protection of flora and fauna. and domestic animals – due to animal abandonment and possession of protected species of wildlife – and the recovery of nearly a hundred animals that were in very poor hygienic-sanitary conditions.

Members of the Nature Protection Service (SEPRONA) of the Civil Guard started the operation a few days ago, to investigate events related to the poor condition in which a large number of animals were allegedly found in a Moratalla home.
After obtaining all the indications and prior judicial authorization, SEPRONA and personnel from the collaborating institutions carried out the inspection in the building, where they found nearly a hundred animals, including domestic animals, for supply and protected species, which were in terrible hygienic-sanitary conditions.
During the inspection, the civil guards observed the presence of excrement and urine from the different animals that it housed, scattered throughout the rooms, as well as the deplorable conditions of the house that made the place an uninhabitable place, with dirt and a strong smell of garbage and rot.

About a hundred animals in terrible conditions

During the home inspection, it was found that all the animals found lacked any sanitary documentation to protect their possession and that they had no access to food or water. Likewise, dead animals in an advanced state of decomposition such as dogs, rabbits, chickens, chickens and pigeons were observed in the different rooms of the house. Likewise, protected species of wild fauna (Fringílidos) were found enclosed in one of the rooms of the house, as well as a Vietnamese pig, considered an invasive species.
The agents proceeded to seize all the domestic animals and protected species existing in the house, which have been handed over to wildlife recovery centers.
The slaughter animals that were in the place, after their examination by a medical veterinarian, have had to be slaughtered and removed by a management company, as they are considered a risk to public health and animal health.
In addition, SEPRONA has made more than a dozen complaints for the detected infractions that are included in Law 4/2009, on Integrated Environmental Protection; Law 8/2003, on Animal Health and Law 42/2007 on Natural Heritage and Biodiversity.
