The Civil Guard investigates the driver of a bus that traveled more than 33 kilometers using his mobile phone

He is being investigated for an alleged crime against road safety, which carries prison sentences of six months to two years and deprivation of the right to drive motor vehicles and mopeds for a time greater than one and up to six years

The Civil Guard has investigated in Segovia a 33-year-old man as the alleged perpetrator of a crime against road safety for driving a passenger bus using a mobile phone for 33,200 kilometers, both making voice calls and videoconferencing.
The events occurred around 6 a.m. on November 26, 2020, when one of the bus users, upon realizing the situation, made various recordings of the driver of the vehicle that he made available to the agents. Therefore, the agents instructed the appropriate proceedings that were delivered in the Segovia Guard Court.

Applicable regulations

Article 380 of Chapter IV of the Penal Code defines crimes against road safety and establishes the following penalties for exceeding the established alcohol rate:
“Anyone who drives a motor vehicle or moped with manifest recklessness and puts the life or integrity of persons in concrete danger will be punished with prison terms of six months to two years and deprivation of the right to drive motor vehicles and mopeds. for a time greater than one and up to six years ”.
