The Director General meets with those responsible for the Civil Guard in Lanzarote and Fuerteventura

Félix Azón has known first-hand, through its main controls, the structure, organization and problems of the Islands of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura

He has visited the Costa Teguise Company (Lanzarote), as well as the Maritime Service Patrol, the Yaiza post and the Puerto del Rosario Company (Fuerteventura)

The General Director of the Civil Guard, Félix Azón, has held a working meeting with those responsible for the Islands of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura.

The Brigadier General of the Canary Islands Zone, Juan Manuel Arribas and Colonel Vicente Reig, responsible for the Comandancia de Las Palmas, as well as officers of the different specialties and companies have attended.
The Civil Guard Commanders have exposed to the Director General the tasks they perform in these two islands, what has been the evolution in recent years, as well as the perspectives and future plans.

Costa Teguise Company (Lanzarote)

The Director General has been able to visit the Costa Teguise barracks, Yaiza Post and a Civil Guard Patrol of the Civil Guard in Playa Blanca.
The Company, made up of almost 300 troops, is divided into four Main Posts, Penitentiary Center section, Traffic detachment, Seprona. research units, attention to vulnerable groups and support units.
The crime data referring to the first half of 2019 reflect 1,734 criminal offenses, which meant a decrease of -9.86% over the same period of 2018. The clarification rate was 48.73%, with an increase of 2, 86% over the same period last year.
The highest number of infractions in the first half of 2019 has been the thefts (316) and theft with force in homes, establishments and other places (138), their number having been reduced with respect to the same period of the previous year by a – 17.7% and -57% respectively.

Company of Puerto del Rosario (Fuerteventura)

The Director General has visited the Puerto del Rosario quartering where they have explained the situation and problems faced by the 200 troops that the Company has. They are organized in two Main Posts Morro Jable and Corralejo, two detachments of Traffic, investigation units, attention to vulnerable groups, SEPRONA and support units.
Regarding crime data, 1,738 criminal offenses were committed during the first half of 2019. The clarification rate was 45.17%. The highest number of infractions in the first quarter of 2019 was theft (265). As for the theft with force in homes, establishments and other places, 68 occurred, having reduced their number with respect to the same period of the previous year by -43% and -43% respectively.
The Director General has congratulated the components of the Civil Guard in Lanzarote and Fuerteventura for the work they do, especially taking into account the peculiarities that insularity entails. He has urged them to work to increase as much as possible the attention of the citizen, which is One of the reasons of being of the Civil Guard throughout its 175 years of history that we commemorate this 2019.
The Director General has also held a meeting with the President of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, in which they have been able to review the main issues related to security in the Canary Islands.
He has also met with other authorities in the area such as the Mayor of the City of Teguise, Oswaldo Betancort, the Insular Director of the General State Administration in Lanzarote, Alfonso de San Martín, the Judge-Judge Dean of Arrecife, Adalberto De La Cruz , the Chief Prosecutor of the Lanzarote and Fuerteventura Area, Yolanda López, and other civil and military authorities.
Also, in Fuerteventura Felix Azón has met with the vice president of the Island Council of Fuerteventura; the Mayor of the City of Puerto de Rosario; the Secretary of the Insular Directorate in Fuerteventura; Judge Dean of the Puerto del Rosario, and other civil and military authorities.
This meeting is framed within those that Félix Azón is doing to get to know first hand the work of the different units of the Civil Guard.
