The Director General meets with those responsible for the Civil Guard in the Commanderies of Algeciras and Cádiz

The General Director of the Civil Guard, María Gámez, has held a working meeting with those responsible for the Civil Guard in the Commanderies of Algeciras and Cádiz.
The Civil Guard commanders have explained to the Director General the tasks they carry out in the Area and in the Commanderies of Algeciras and Cádiz and what their evolution has been in recent years, as well as their prospects and future plans.
María Gámez has analyzed together with the provincial Commands the evolution of the Special Plan against Drug Trafficking in Campo de Gibraltar and has highlighted the absolute involvement of the Corps personnel in both commands, which has allowed that, only in the month of March, 10 operations with 94 detainees have been carried out at the Algeciras headquarters and more than 26 tons of drugs have been seized; and in Cádiz 43 people have been arrested and 22 tons of drugs seized.
María Gámez has held a meeting with the President of the Port Authority of the Port of Algeciras, Gerardo Landaluce, with whom she has discussed the modification of the Agreement that exists between the Secretary of State for Security with the Port Authority in such a way that it is take charge of the construction of a dock necessary for the Civil Guard to transfer their boats to the new facilities of the Provincial Maritime Service.
Likewise, the General Director thanked Gerardo Landaluce for the transfer of an area in the Port where to be able to temporarily deposit the large number of vessels that have been accumulating to a great extent due to the multitude of operations carried out related to drug trafficking, in such a way that They can be classified until the judicial authority decides what to do with them.
During her visit, the Director General held a meeting with staff from all jobs in which she congratulated them for their work both in the fight against drug trafficking and the one they are carrying out during the last year due to the restrictions caused by the pandemic. He has also greeted the agents who were hospitalized for covid-19 with whom he was in contact by phone.
Command of Algeciras
The Civil Guard in the Comandancia de Algeciras is responsible for the public safety of 6 municipalities in Campo de Gibraltar, which represents 93.12% of the total in the Region. To carry out this task, it has close to 1,000 personnel, of which almost 7% are women and it is made up of a total of 3 Companies made up of 4 Main positions and 8 Ordinary Positions.
In addition to citizen security, the duties of Fiscal Protection, custody of the Ports of Algeciras and Tarifa and surveillance of the coasts stand out. It has specialties such as Seprona, Judicial Police and Information, Cynology, Explosives Deactivation, Rock Equipment, Weapons and Explosives Intervention and Traffic.
Regarding the main criminal typologies within the crimes that generate the greatest social alarm, it is worth noting the decrease in robberies with violence or intimidation, which in the period January-February 2021 has meant a decrease of 80% compared to the previous year.
The Civil Guard in the Cádiz Command is responsible for citizen security in 30 municipalities, which represents 68.83% of the territorial extension of the province. To carry out this task, it has about 1,200 employees, 4% of which are women and it is made up of a total of 4 Companies made up of 6 Main Positions and 24 Ordinary Positions.
They have Citizen Security, Information, Judicial Police, Seprona, Weapons Intervention, Traffic Grouping, and Cynological Service, Maritime Service and Roca Equipment units, among others, to serve their demarcation.
Regarding the main criminal typologies within the crimes that generate the greatest social alarm, it is worth noting the decrease experienced in robberies with force in homes and establishments that in the period January-February 2021 has meant a decrease of 33.85%.
