On the occasion of the cessation of activity of many self-employed workers due to the Covid-19 pandemic, being 3.2 million the self-employed in Spain, many self-employed have been the ones who have been faced with the need of apply for Government aid to survive due to the closure of their businesses. From among the applicants, many freelancers yet they have not perceived that economic amount. Specifically, there are about a thousand files that are still pending to receive the benefit.

Asked by VOX, the VOX deputy for Ceuta, Teresa López, appealed to the Executive "how many self-employed as of June 17 had not received their benefit for cessation of activity." The Socialist Government has confirmed that there are 874 files pending receipt of the benefit, and that they will do so as long as "it is resolved in a favorable manner." In Ceuta, 1,964 applications have been submitted for the extraordinary benefit of cessation of activity of self-employed workers as of June 17, 2020.

In addition, the UATAE asked the Government to extend the benefit, especially for the self-employed in those sectors hardest hit by the crisis. Also, another of their claims has gone to the "serious insufficiencies" in the termination benefit, which result in the lack of protection suffered by the seasonal self-employed, who are those who tend to register in seasonal periods, they say from the Union of Associations .

According to the Association of Self-Employed Workers of Andalusia, this pandemic has caused Ceuta to register a drop of 37.87% in the number of new self-employed registrations in the first semester, 43 less than in the same period of 2019. In addition, the ATA ensures that this pandemic has slowed down entrepreneurship at the national level.
