The candidate elected to the Presidency of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania is Mohamed Cheikh Mohamed Ahmed ElGhazouani.
The Government of Spain also congratulates the Mauritanian people for their commitment to democratic values during these elections that mark a constitutional transition to the head of the supreme magistracy of the country.
Spain and Mauritania maintain an excellent relationship based on solid human, cultural and historical ties that covers a multitude of areas such as security, defense, border control and migratory flows and fisheries.
