The Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Reyes Maroto, has closed the presentation of the Study of Positioning of Spain as a Tourist Destination, prepared by the El Cano Institute and TURESPAÑA, where it has reiterated that the Government of Spain works intensely to receive international tourists as soon as possible.

Reyes Maroto has assured that the availability of vaccines and the start of vaccination in many countries offers a horizon of hope to immunize a majority of the population that would be in a position to travel safely. “Our priority in 2021 is to reactivate tourism activity and resume safe mobility globally as soon as possible. We are working to adopt a common framework of predictable action to give confidence to tourists and we hope that at the end of spring and especially in summer international travel will resume and choose Spain ”.

During her speech, the minister stressed that health security constitutes another barrier to travel, but does not particularly affect Spain as a destination. This is evident in the study presented today and we are seeing it in the continuous monitoring carried out in TURESPAÑA through other active listening tools on social networks: our image has not been harmed and there is a desire from tourists to return to travel to Spain. The image and positioning of Spain as a tourist destination is a strength of the Spain brand on a global level.

Regarding tourism promotion, the general director of TURESPAÑA, Miguel Sanz, has indicated that we want to be identified as a safe destination and for this we have launched an informational and promotional campaign "Travel Safe" that aims to contribute to the recovery of confidence in tourism, informing about the requirements and conditions for the realization of safe trips and influencing the purchase intention of travelers, encouraging them to consume safe trips.
