• Some of the changes have been described by the historical correspondent of TVE in Brussels, José Ramón Patterson, as inopportune, stupid, and businessly wrong

The Popular Parliamentary Group has registered today, after the recent dismissals of TVE correspondents in places as important as Brussels or London, a battery of questions to the unique Administrator of RTVE, Rosa María Mateo, to explain, among other things, what they are the correspondent offices that will be affected and the reasons that justify each of the changes.

The deputies who sign the initiative – Commission spokesman Eduardo Carazo, GPP deputy spokesperson Macarena Montesinos, and popular deputies Tomás Cabezón, Tristana Moraleja, Carmen Riolobos and Andrés Lorite – recall that after Rosa María Mateo's arrival at RTVE in 2018, there were already ten changes in the correspondent offices (nine of them on TVE and one on RNE), so these new dismissals can only be interpreted as a reissue of the great purge applied then.

According to the popular, “it is amazing that when the TVE news programs have hit rock bottom due to their marked ideological bias and manipulation, obtaining their worst audience results, the only solution is to separate professionals who carry out their work with great brilliance and experience in destinations as important as the community capital or the United Kingdom ”.

"The criterion for improvement should be objectivity, neutrality and pluralism, and not the whim of a leadership that only seeks to please the Government," they insist. In fact, they emphasize that the historical correspondent in Brussels of TVE, José Ramón Patterson, has described the change of the London correspondent as "inopportune, stupid, and businessly wrong."

The parliamentarians have concluded by assuring that “the sole Administrator of RTVE, Rosa María Mateo, has become a pole of attraction for all nonsense and an objective and growing danger for the viability of RTVE. One of the few strongholds of TVE was its foreign correspondents and now it
puts you at risk, so you must give explanations. "

The questions presented are the following:

1. – What changes are going to take place in the foreign correspondent offices of TVE and RNE in 2020?

2. – On what dates will each of the changes take effect?

3. – What public service objectives are you pursuing with these changes?

4. – What management body of TVE has decided the dismissal of these correspondents?

5. – What reasons justify each of the changes in terms of improving international information and knowledge of the country or geographic area of destination?

6. – What criteria of optimization of resources or efficiency have been taken into account in these changes?

7. – What new tasks have been assigned in RTVE to the dismissed correspondents?

8. – Do you share that the cessation of the correspondent in London is stupid, inopportune and an error as another RTVE professional has described it?
