• Question the Ministry of Transportation for the actions it is taking to ensure that airlines comply with the provisions on social distancing in Royal Decree 463/2020
The Popular Parliamentary Group has registered a series of written questions to the Government in which it demands explanations from the Minister of Transport, Mobility and the Urban Agenda, José Luis Ábalos, and the department that he directs, about the measures that he is going to implement to guarantee the social distancing on commercial flights.
In this sense, the popular remember that Royal Decree 463/2020, of March 14, declaring the state of alarm, establishes social distancing measures in air transport services. However, on May 10, the Madrid-Las Palmas Iberia Express flight “clearly violated”
those measures.
As explained in the explanatory statement, "the plane was practically completely full, preventing this circumstance from maintaining the proper distance of sanitary safety between passengers." The inspection at its destination by the Civil Guard confirmed that "the aircraft had left Madrid with an occupation that exceeded 70% of its total capacity."
For this reason, the General Secretary of the Popular Group, Guillermo Mariscal, and the Transport spokesman, Andrés Lorite, have asked the following questions:
How is the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda executing compliance with the provisions of article 14 of Royal Decree 463/2020, of March 14, declaring the state of alarm for the management of the health crisis situation caused by COVID-19?
