• Denounces complaints about delays in delivery both in cities and in rural areas and asks if employees have had protective equipment

The Popular Parliamentary Group today presented a battery of parliamentary questions in Congress demanding the Minister of Finance, responsible for the Postal Service, explanations for the delays in the Postal Service during the state of alarm and interested in the situation of its workers .

In the explanatory memorandum of this initiative, the GPP stresses that the public postal and telecommunications service is an essential service for consumers and users, due to its impact on personal, cultural and commercial activities within the national territory, and they denounce that During the state of alarm, complaints have been received regarding delays during mail delivery, associated with medical losses due to COVID-19, quarantines, and prioritizing parcel delivery.

For this reason, the deputies who subscribe to the initiative – the GPP deputy spokesman Mario Garcés, the spokesperson for the Treasury of the Popular Group, Carolina Spain, and the
Deputies Carmen Riolobos and Elena Castillo- want to know, the service provided both in rural and urban areas, if it was guaranteed
distribution frequency and where it could be reduced.

Likewise, it is interested in how many workers have provided essential services during the months of March, April and May, and whether they have had the necessary PPE for their protection.

In addition, the GPP asks about the number of workers who have undergone COVID-19 screening, both PCRs and rapid tests, and how many tested positive for both types of tests. Also the number of workers who had to be quarantined, and the number of deaths among Correos employees, if any.

On the other hand, Deputy Spokesperson Garcés has registered an oral question in the Finance Commission to find out the reasons that justify the recent resignation of the Director of Human Resources at Correos, at a time when, according to news reports , the workers' protests are continuous.
