The Minister of Economy and Business, Nadia Calviño, has accompanied Her Majesty the King of Spain and the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, at the opening of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona. This meeting, a reference in the global technology sector, will bring together 2,400 companies from 200 countries until Thursday, 28, 189 of them Spanish.

King Felipe VI has been informed of the main novelties presented in this edition of Mobile, an event that focuses its proposals on the implementation of 5G technology, the internet of things or artificial intelligence. Also present at this event were the Minister of Territorial Policy and Public Function, Meritxell Batet, the Minister of Science, Innovation and Universities, Pedro Duque, and other regional and municipal authorities.

In the subsequent inaugural tour they have visited different pavilions, including that of Spain, organized by Red.es, a public business entity under the Ministry of Economy and Business through the Secretary of State for Digital Advancement. There, 56 Spanish companies have been installed with the double objective of showing the best national projects linked to the mobile industry and offering selected firms spaces to boost their internationalization, present new products, find investors or expand the client portfolio.

The visit to the Spanish Pavilion has allowed us to know first-hand initiatives to create technology for people with hearing loss or to develop a web platform that allows 3D models to be generated from photos or videos taken from any device. King Don Felipe has been informed of the state of the development of technological infrastructures in Spain, leading Europe in the implementation of optical fiber.

Humanism in the digital revolution

Within the framework of the Mobile World Congress, the Digital Future Society has been held in Barcelona, ​​a forum to address the digital revolution from a humanistic perspective. Organized with the collaboration of the Ministry of Economy and Business, Minister Nadia Calviño closed it this Sunday with a speech in which she called for an inclusive digital society that I did not leave any citizen behind and guarantee their rights.
