Campo extols the "key social function" of family lawyers because of their proximity to citizenship


The Minister of Justice, Juan Carlos Campo, has sent a letter to the directors of the Institutes of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences of all the autonomous communities to convey his appreciation and thanks to the 1,062 members of the corps of forensic doctors for their willingness to collaborate with the National Health System to alleviate the crisis caused by the Covid-2019 coronavirus pandemic. The device provided by the Ministry of Justice to the health authority also includes 87 doctors, 43 specialist technicians and 52 laboratory assistants belonging to the National Institute of Toxicology and Forensic Sciences.

In that letter, the minister recalls that the pandemic has given rise to "an unprecedented situation in our country that has motivated the declaration of the state of alarm" and underlines the "professionalism, training and technical solvency, particularly in critical situations" that they have these officials dependent on the Ministry of Justice and, where appropriate, the autonomous communities with transferred powers in the matter.

The tasks that all these professionals will carry out will focus on support health work depending on the specific needs of the National Health Service. Among the tasks that may be entrusted to them are epidemiological follow-up, collaboration in epidemiological surveys, the collection of samples in suspected cases of Covid-19, telephone assistance, as well as the certification of deaths that may occur outside the United States. health centers and the issuance of civil registry opinions, according to the minister's letter.

The decision to put all this staff at the disposal of the health authorities was adopted last Friday in a coordinated manner between the ministry and the 12 communities with jurisdiction over justice, in consultation with the General Council of the Judiciary. The specific contribution of personnel dependent on the ministry and the ministries of Justice with transferred competencies, as well as the personnel who must remain at their job to guarantee the essential services of the administration of Justice, is included in a resolution signed yesterday by the minister by virtue of the assignment of the Ministry of Health for the coordination of the civil servants to the service of the administration of Justice of all the State.

Professionals who are available to the health system from today (954) and those who must remain in their posts to guarantee essential services (290) of the different bodies assigned to each autonomous community are listed in this document.
