Forum of Mipymes in Buenos Aires

Married exposed the two axes around which will be the Forum of Mipymes the next 2 and 3 of July in Buenos Aires. On the one hand, it will address the digital transformation of MSMEs and, on the other hand, the strengthening of Ibero-American entrepreneurial ecosystems.

The permanent secretary of CEIB said that, despite the advances in the implementation and use of internet in Latin America, the degree of adoption and use of digital technologies in companies is still insufficient, with an important difference with respect to OECD countries. .

"In the region there is a gap of almost half a million professional experts in digital technology with respect to business needs, this gap is even greater for specialists in emerging technologies such as video, cloud, datacenters, virtual reality, big data, cybersecurity or development of software, among others, "said Casado.

The permanent secretary of CEIB explained that SMEs have an added problem in the adoption and use of digital technologies due to their financing difficulties, which require a greater effort than large companies to access new technologies. They tend to show greater problems of productivity, suffering more intensely the competition for talent and lack of qualified human resources. In addition, he pointed out, they have more difficulty accessing continuing education courses due to supply and access problems, which hinders their knowledge regarding the emergence of new technologies.

On the second axis of the forum, Casado recalled that there is a great coincidence among the different institutions and experts of Ibero-America, recognizing that it is a region with many entrepreneurs but with little innovation. He said that much more than entrepreneurial culture and willingness to undertake, especially financing, specific skills, access to markets and internationalization, contacts and regulation are needed.

The business organizations of the Region and the governments of many countries are developing initiatives to strengthen their entrepreneurial ecosystems, providing technical assistance, training, financing and improvements in regulatory frameworks to boost high performance companies, capable of generating quality jobs and putting the agenda of public policy, the programs to support new entrepreneurs, concluded Casado.
