The socialist majority in the Senate has blocked the Commissions since its establishment on July 31, which allowed them to be constituted

The Popular Parliamentary Group in the Senate has presented, in the XIII Legislature, and despite the blockade of the Government and the PSOE to the activity of the Senate, an intense legislative and control activity to the Executive with a total of 1,379 initiatives, giving effect to the mandate of the Spaniards in the last general elections, and responding to the confidence placed in the popular senators.

The popular ones in the Senate have presented in the Upper House, since the Courts were constituted on May 21, four proposals of Law that have remained without debate and 63 motions in Commission that have not been debated either.

In the Senate the socialist majority and the president of the Chamber have only allowed the celebration of a Permanent Deputation in July and a plenary session in September. The Socialist Group applied the “roller” in the Board of Spokespersons and in the Bureau to prevent the acting President of the Government from appearing in the control session, delaying control to the acting president to the plenary that had to have been held on the 24 September, one day after the dissolution of the Chambers.

The Popular Group considers that this blockade has led to a “malfunction of democratic institutions. In almost four months of the Legislature, the Government, through the Socialist Parliamentary Group in the Chamber that supports it, has not allowed the holding of any appearance of ministers, any Commission, a single meeting of the Permanent Deputation and a Plenary. ”

The GPP, among other initiatives, has registered four applications for the appearance of members of the Government in the Chamber, without substantiating any. The popular requested the appearance of the councilors of the Treasury and the Minister of Finance to address the issue of regional financing, the Minister of Health to report on the actions developed from its Ministry for the control of the listeriosis outbreak and the Minister of Culture and Sports to inform about the conflict between the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) and the Professional Football League (LFP).

On the other hand, the popular ones in the Senate have registered a total of 1,295 written questions to the Government, of which only 135 have been answered, 680 are pending of answer and 480 pending of qualification.
