The Popular Party has requested in the European Parliament that this institution make a report on the operation of the Eurorden (European order for the arrest and delivery of alleged criminals) to identify the problems encountered in its application in recent years and also to raise improvements to this instrument of judicial cooperation between EU member states.

The Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs of the European Parliament will decide on the preparation of this report in the coming weeks.

The MEP of the PP and member of this parliamentary commission, Javier Zarzalejos, recalled that "as a result of cases such as the escape of the Spanish justice Carles Puigdemont, the PP has been asking to consider the revision of the euroorder."

"Now, with the start of the new European legislature, and the imminent beginning of the mandate of the new European Commission, it is time to do this review and evaluation work," he added.

“A poor application of the euroorder can cause cases of impunity, which we should try to avoid. The elimination of the internal borders of the EU is a great achievement to facilitate the mobility of citizens, but it cannot become an escape door for those who in any European country try to avoid the action of justice, ”he said.

"We have to strengthen the principle of mutual trust between European judicial systems," concluded Zarzalejos.
