The Popular Parliamentary Group in the Senate has presented today in the Upper House a motion, for discussion in plenary, in which the declaration of “area seriously affected by a Civil Protection emergency” is requested, the municipalities of the Autonomous Communities affected by an Isolated Depression in High Levels (DANA), also known as cold drop.
In addition, the popular Senate regret the damage caused by DANA and transfer their solidarity to the affected people and show their condolences to the families of the victims.
As explained by the Popular Group in the text of the motion, during September 12 and 13 different provinces of the Autonomous Communities of Murcia, Valencia, Andalusia and Castilla-La Mancha, have suffered real damage from the cold drop, especially the areas near the Segura river.
It must be remembered that, according to data from the State Meteorological Agency, cities such as Alicante, Orihuela, Santa Pola, Onteniente, Almería and Murcia, among others, have registered rainfall of more than 200 liters per square meter in just 24 hours, which It almost equals the rain that usually falls in a whole year.
Likewise, the popular ones in the Senate highlight “the tremendous effort” that the emergency bodies are making: Emergency Military Unit, State Security Forces and Bodies, Firefighters, Local Police, Civil Protection, Emergency Service 112, as well as all those people who are contributing to alleviate the damages suffered by the population of said Autonomous Communities.
The motion of the PP has been signed by the senators of Murcia, Violante Tomás and Domingo Segado; the Andalusian senators, Javier Arenas, María Teresa Ruiz Sillero and Rafa Hernando; the senators of the Valencian Autonomous Community, Alberto Fabra, Pablo Ruz and Fernando de Rosa; and the Castilian-La Mancha senator, Antonio Serrano.
