• In his opinion, the Government has the last opportunity to establish a competitive electricity price, to produce primary aluminum in Spain

The senators of the PP, Juan Manuel Juncal and José Manuel Barreiro, today presented the request for the appearance of the Ministers of Ecological Transition, Teresa Ribera, and of Industry, Reyes Maroto, to report on the crisis generated in Alcoa.

"The ineffectiveness and the lack of understanding between the two ministries have caused this situation that puts the continuity of the only primary aluminum factory in Spain at risk," says senator Juan Juncal.

For Senator José Manuel Barreiro, “Alcoa is in a particularly difficult difficulty for workers. The decision to close Alcoa responds to the lack of commitment on the part of the Government to establish a competitive electric price to be able to produce primary aluminum in Spain, ”he stated.

The PP urgently requests the appearance of the two ministers and decision-making by the government, in order to avoid the closure of the plant, which would lead to the loss of jobs and resources both at the level national, as regional for A Mariña lucense.

The Government, according to the senators, has a last chance to rectify and not leave 500 families on the street who depend on a political decision to give a competitive electricity price to the electro intensive companies.
