• The spokeswoman for the Interior of the Popular Party in the Congress of Deputies, Ana Vázquez, said today that Cantabria has a deficit of more than 240 national police and civil guards, and has expressed in this regard the requirement that the region be endowed with More police means.
  • A requirement shared by the list heads of the Cantabrian PP to Congress and Senate, Diego Movellán and Javier Puente, respectively, who, according to Vázquez, already presented initiatives during the current legislature asking that the Government proceed to an increase in the number of troops in Cantabria.
  • The PP Interior spokeswoman, who has visited Cantabria to meet with union representatives of prisons, National Police and Civil Guard, has expressed concern that in "such a stable community" the rate of robberies with violence has increased by 19.7 percent, while the crime rate has grown by 3%, although the latter is below the national average.
  • That is why he has insisted on the need to demand that Cantabria have more means and in this regard he recalled that the Popular Party has already prepared, before the motion of censure that led Pedro Sánchez to La Moncloa, an offer of employment for more of 3,000 police officers and more than 2,600 civil guards.
  • Vázquez has pledged on the other hand that the PP will comply with the salary equalization that equals the police and civil guards with the rest of the regional police. In this regard, he stressed that "equal work equal pay" and regretted that the measures put in place by the PP to achieve equalization have been paralyzed by the Government of Pedro Sánchez.
  • The spokeswoman for the Interior of the PP has also lamented that while her party left prepared to tender the purchase of 4,000 vests for police officers and many others for civil guards, “this Government that cares about the past” missed the deadline for bidding and, consequently, the purchase could not be made.
  • Another of the commitments made by Ana Vázquez has been to work so that in the rural areas the civil guards have a higher scale. In this regard, he added that it is necessary to make it attractive that a civil guard who leaves the Academy wants to move to a barracks in empty Spain, because rural Spain has the same right to their security as the Spain of cities, he said.
  • PRISON OFFICERS
  • On the other hand, the PP Interior spokeswoman has defended the need for prison officials to be considered as agents of the authority. A proposal that the PP already defended in the Congress and that was rejected by a single vote when being against PSOE and Podemos.
  • After expressing his support for this group, Vázquez has indicated that the left does not like to talk about this issue because he practices a “goodism” for which they consider that the inmate is punished by an official, when what these officials are doing is guaranteeing our security
  • Finally, Ana Vázquez, recalled that the Popular Party is going to ask that Catalonia's powers in prisons return to the State and has demanded that the Interior Minister allocate more resources to that community, because they cannot leave those who left behind. They are already there by a simple electoral point of view of how many votes the Socialist Party can win or lose.
