VOX Granada presented in the past plenary session of the Provincial Delegation a motion in solidarity with people who have experienced in first person the effects derived from the current health and economic crisis due to the global pandemic of Covid-19, since at the moment, it was It is necessary to show a gesture of the provincial institution with the work that many of the professionals who are helping to sustain this situation are carrying out.
The VOX Granada provincial deputy, Cristina Jiménez, has pointed out that “the doctors and nurses who are saving our lives, whose professional schools launched a joint campaign through the Institute of Biosanitary Research to raise funds to equip themselves with sanitary material and to finance research on Covid-19; soup kitchens and food banks, which are redoubling efforts to serve so many people, just when their staff has been reduced by the application of sanitary measures and when more lack of food stock is taking place; and those who have suffered the greatest losses in this pandemic, such as the victims of Covid-19; all of them deserved a gesture from the different parties ”. For this reason, the political formation raised to the plenary session of the provincial institution that the deputies “unite in a great gesture of solidarity, and donate the subsistence allowances and expenses that had been received since the declaration of the State of Alarm and until the end of the present year".
The proposal was rejected, with the only vote in favor of VOX, the abstention of the Popular Party and the vote against PSOE, Ciudadanos, Adelante Andalucía and Izquierda Unida. The Provincial Deputy of VOX has regretted that the deputies have rejected the motion, since “the subsistence allowances and expenses, while due to confinement, mobility restrictions and the possibility of carrying out most of their activity by teleworking , are an unnecessary political expense right now, which should go to those who do need funds to cope with the effects of Covid-19. It is a proposal loaded with common sense, and we are still astonished to see that the vast majority of political groups have voted against it. They talk about coming out of the crisis together, but given this measure to help those who are really doing everything possible to get out of it, they have come together, but to vote against it. ”
Regarding criticism from the opposition, Cristina Jiménez pointed out that “I had not seen the deputies of the other political groups as nervous as with this motion. It was not about making a value judgment, since the deputies will have done charitable works in their private sphere as many of us have done: it was about visualizing a common gesture of solidarity, exemplary and commitment of the Granada political class with the citizenship. Far from that, we find the rejection and hostility of political groups when they are told to touch their emoluments. They have not understood the social emergency on the street. "
From VOX Granada we declare that, although the motion has been rejected, we encourage the deputies to rethink their position from now on because "they will have a hard time explaining to Granada society why everything is solidarity and good words until it is time to renounce allowances charged as political representatives ”, according to the provincial deputy.
Rejection of new protocols of action in the residences of the County Council.
On the other hand, VOX also presented to the plenary session of the Provincial Council the establishment of new measures to combat the condition of the Coronavirus in residences, where the disease is being tragically lethal at the national level: practically nonexistent detection and diagnosis methods, Lack of preventive sanitary material, and the delay in the application of sanitary protocols for self-confinement in homes and residences, are the reasons why VOX believe that the virus has spread strongly among residents and sanitarians.
In this sense, and given that the media reports indicate that there have been limitations in the therapeutic effort for high-risk patients such as the elderly, the Provincial Group of the party that presides over Santiago Abascal addressed various proposals to inquire about future actions. that they be carried out in the residences of which the Provincial Deputation is the owner: the "La Milagrosa" and "Reina Sofía" disability residences, both in Armilla; and "Rodríguez Peñalva", in Huéscar.
VOX demands in its proposals that it act with total transparency and that daily information on the number of infections, tests carried out and deaths, both users and workers of said residences, be reported. In addition to informative transparency, the party required a specific protocol of action, regarding inspection and sanitation of these facilities. Lastly, those from Abascal also pointed to possible future upsurges, for which they proposed a "Covid-19 emergency hiring plan" for medical and health personnel, where the criteria of equality, merit and ability prevail. Finally, despite having the favorable votes of PP and VOX itself, and the abstention of Citizens, the sum of votes from PSOE, Adelante Andalucía and IU prevented the proposals from going ahead.
