The Scientific Technical Committee COVID-19 is officially constituted


The committee will be formed by Antoni Trilla García, head of the Preventive Medicine and Epidemiology Service of the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona; Hermelinda Vanaclocha Luna, Deputy Director General of Epidemiology, Health Surveillance and Environmental Health of the Generalitat Valenciana; María Teresa MorenoCasbas, director of the Health Care and Services Research Unit (Investén-isciii) of the Carlos III Health Institute; Agustín Portela Moreira, head of the Official Laboratory for the Control of Medicines for Biological Products (vaccines and blood products) of the Spanish Agency for Medicines and Health Products (AEMPS); Inmaculada Casas Flecha, virologist at the National Center for Microbiology of the Carlos III Health Institute; Javier Arranz, coordinator of Infectious Diseases at the Balearic Islands Health Research Institute (IdISBa) and Miguel Hernán, professor of Biostatistics and Epidemiology at the School of Public Health at Harvard University.

Antoni Trilla García He is Professor of Public Health at the University of Barcelona, ​​he is also Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences of the University of Barcelona, ​​Research Professor at the Institute of Global Health of Barcelona (ISGlobal) and member of the Governing Board of the Official College of Physicians of Barcelona.

Hermelinda Vanaclocha Luna She is a medical specialist in Preventive Medicine and Public Health from the University of Valencia, holds the position of secretary of the Valencian Medical Institute and is part of the Infection and Health Research Group of the Foundation for the Promotion of Health and Biomedical Research of the Valencian Community (Fisabio).

Maria Teresa Moreno-Casbas He has a doctorate in Public Health Epidemiology from the Rey Juan Carlos University, has spent most of his career at the Carlos III Health Institute and also directs the Spanish Center for Evidence-Based Health Care (CECBE). He is also the scientific manager of the group for the care of the fragile and / or elderly population of the Area of ​​Fragility and Healthy Aging of the Center for Online Biomedical Research (Cyber).

Agustín Portela Moreira He is a doctor in Biological Sciences (studies on the replication of the influenza virus) from the Autonomous University of Madrid, he was a researcher in basic Virology in various animal viruses at the National Center for Microbiology and at the National Center for Fundamental Biology of the Carlos III Health Institute . At the AEMPS he has actively participated in the clinical evaluation of human vaccines and is a member of the Vaccines Working Party of the European Medicines Agency (EMA) as head of the Biotechnology and Biological Products Area, in the Department of Medicines for Human Use of the AEMPS .

Immaculate Houses Arrow She is a doctor of pharmacy and a scientific researcher. Head of the Flu and Respiratory Viruses Unit and director of the WHO National Flu Center in Madrid. She currently also holds the position of secretary of the Board of Directors of the Spanish Society of Virology. He has worked in the diagnosis and characterization of viral infections and participates in different studies in which viruses are implicated as etiological agents. She is also the co-author of 152 research articles.

Miguel Hernán He is a doctor and an epidemiologist. Currently, he is a professor of Biostatistics and Epidemiology at the School of Public Health of the T.C. Chan from Harvard. He is also a special employee of the US Government as a Data Science Advisor to the Food and Drug Administration. One of her investigative work focuses on the design of database analysis for healthcare, epidemiological studies, and randomized trials. In addition, he is principal investigator of the HIVCAUSAL Collaboration, a multinational consortium of prospective studies in Europe and the Americas, where he conducts comparatively effective research for the treatment of people living with HIV.
