More than 8,158,000 taxpayers have already received the return of Personal Income Tax (IRPF) for 2018, 6.6% more than last year on the same dates.
The amount returned reaches 5,296 million euros, 7.2% more. 77% of the reimbursements requested so far and 67.5% of the corresponding amounts have been paid.
As has been happening throughout the campaign, this streamlining of payments corresponds to an acceleration of the presentations. Thus, until yesterday and, therefore, with three weeks to go before the end of the campaign, 14,039,000 declarations have been submitted, 1,090,000 more than last year on equal dates.
This acceleration reaches both the presentation of returns with results to be returned (10,578,000, + 7.9%), and those with results to be paid (2,953,000, + 9.5%), in a context of anticipation of assistance services, improvements in 'WEB RENT' and the positive evolution of two non-face-to-face alternatives to the Agency website (the mobile application and the 'We call it' plan for making statements by telephone), which have been given a new impetus in this campaign.
Refund of the IRPF of maternity and paternity
The Acting Finance Minister, María Jesús Montero, today praised the important work done by the Tax Agency to guarantee the constitutional provision that establishes a fair tax system and inspired by the principles of equality and progressivity. This is what he pointed out during a visit to the Renta platform of the Special Delegation of the Tax Agency in Madrid, accompanied by the general director of the Agency, Jesús Gascón.
Montero has also detailed the status of IRPF returns linked to maternity and paternity leave enjoyed between 2014 and 2017. Until yesterday more than 734,000 mothers and fathers have received the refund through the process launched by the Government . The sum of the amounts reimbursed to date (return plus interest) exceeds 960 million euros.
Taxpayers with the right to return have received 1,309 euros on average. Specifically, mothers have received an average of 2,066 euros and parents 483 euros.
Regarding withholdings made in 2018, taxpayers should not carry out any procedure, given that their Income Tax return for that year, which corresponds to present in the current campaign, already incorporates the benefits as exempt and withholdings are deductible. In any case, like any other fiscal data that is offered to the taxpayer, the Agency recommends its revision before submitting the declaration.
With regard to the benefits received by civil servants and social welfare mutuals, this week the checks of the data provided by the payers are being completed and it is foreseen to start the returns next week, it is not ruled out that they can be started this week.
Attention in offices and on-line ways
This campaign is expected to present 20,350,000 declarations, 361,000 more than the previous year. Of this total, it is expected that 14,314,000 will be entitled to a refund for an estimated amount of 10,468 million euros, 4.5% more, while about 5,161,000 will be paid, with an amount of 10,160. millions.
From May 14 and until the last day of the campaign, on July 1, the Tax Agency makes its offices available to the taxpayer in a complementary manner to the non-contact routes (the AEAT website, the 'app' and the plan 'We Call You'), which avoid the taxpayer the need to move to the assistance platforms.
Precisely, a relevant part of the increase registered to date in the presentations is due to the growing use of both the 'app' and the 'We Call' plan. As for the mobile application, this way more than 261,000 declarations have been submitted until yesterday, 46% more than on the same dates of the last campaign. Of that total, 202,000 are presentations 'in a single click' and the rest correspond to cases of contributors to which the application has derived to the AEAT website to make any changes and have returned to the 'app' to conclude the presentation.
At the same time, the statements that have been made by telephone by the Tax Agency to taxpayers who have made an appointment for the "We Call" plan also increase. To date, more than 192,000 declarations have been submitted by telephone (48% more than last year with equal dates).
By absorbing the old system of incoming calls, the 'We Call' plan allows a better telephone service planning and, therefore, greater agility for an assistance tool designed as the great telematic alternative to face-to-face assistance, so that taxpayers less accustomed to new technologies, and who have a telephone assistance profile, can submit before and, if necessary, obtain a return beforehand.
Ways to present the declaration
There are several ways to present the declaration, depending on the result to be returned or to enter, and whether the payment is made or not. Domiciliar the payment means that the declaration of the Rent can be presented any day, until the 26 of June, but the payment will not become effective until the 1 of July, last day of the Campaign of Rent. The direct debit does not prevent splitting the payment into two installments (the second, on November 5).
– Non-contact roads (without moving to offices), until July 1 (June 26 if it is a direct debit payment):
– In-person routes, until July 1 (June 26 if the payment is paid, with charge on July 1):
