More than 78% of the returns and 69% of the amounts requested have already been paid to the taxpayers. The presentations with the mobile application of the Tax Agency have added almost 290,000, 45% more than last year.
The Tax agency has already returned 7,487 million euros to 11,356,000 taxpayers after completing the Campaign for the Income Tax for Individuals corresponding to 2018 (IRPF 2018), so that, at this moment, 78.6% of the requested refunds and 69.1% of the amounts have already been paid. The amount returned increases by 0.5% and the number of returns by 6.2%.
The Agency has received 20,600,000 income tax returns, 863,000 more than in the previous campaign for equal dates. The declarations with refund request have added almost 14,450,000, 70% of the total. The strong increase recorded in the declarations to be entered, which increased by 5.5% in number and more than 18% in amount, stands out. This evolution is mainly due to the strong increase registered in the capital gains, and also to the fact that in previous years, returns filed in the period were still being recorded in the days and weeks following the end of the campaign -especially in the case of Predictions with result to enter-, while this year to the closing date they are already registered.
Impulse of alternative telematic routes
The campaign that has already been concluded has had, as a main characteristic, the consolidation of the two alternatives of non-contact presentation to the Agency's website (the mobile application and the 'We call it' plan for making statements by telephone), to which a new impetus has been given in this campaign, while the traditional face-to-face attention service has been maintained in offices, with more than 2.1 million declarations appearing on rental platforms, a figure very similar to last year's.
Regarding the mobile application, more than 289,800 declarations have been submitted, 45.5% more than in the previous campaign. Of this total, more than 221,000 are presentations 'in a single click' and the rest correspond to cases of taxpayers to which the application has derived to the AEAT website to make any changes and have returned to the 'app' to conclude the presentation.
At the same time, the statements that have been made by telephone by the Tax Agency to taxpayers who have made an appointment for the "We Call" plan also increase. More than 239,600 declarations have been submitted by telephone (33.3% more than last year).
By absorbing the old system of incoming calls, the 'We Call' plan allows a better telephone service planning and, therefore, greater agility for an assistance tool designed as the great telematic alternative to face-to-face assistance, so that taxpayers less accustomed to new technologies, and who have a telephone assistance profile, can submit before and, if necessary, obtain a return beforehand.
The new impulse given to these alternative ways of telematic presentation, together with the improvements incorporated in RENTA WEB, are elements that have contributed to a new acceleration of presentations in the first section of the campaign. Similarly, the fact that, again this year, taxpayers have been able to prepare in advance by counting two weeks before the start of the campaign with basic elements of assistance, such as downloading tax data and obtaining the reference number, stands out. .
Thus, by the time the office assistance started, on May 14, 574,000 taxpayers had filed their return more than last year on the same dates. And, of that increase, almost 236,000 are taxpayers who last year had waited to receive assistance in the offices and, nevertheless, in this campaign they have taken advantage of the different ways of distance assistance to accelerate the process and, where appropriate, the return, avoiding trips to the face-to-face attendance platforms.
Portfolio of securities
The campaign that has already been completed has also included the incorporation of the securities portfolio in RENTA WEB. This tool, which has been accessed by almost 270,000 taxpayers, allows you to directly visualize the composition of the portfolio at January 1 of the year of accrual of the tax (for this campaign, 2018) and the operations of the year, and also to dump all the income generated for the sale of listed shares, facilitating the declaration of capital gains and losses.
In turn, the data that the taxpayer has had to continue incorporating, specifically the historical acquisition prices of his shares, will allow in the next few years that this information is already recorded and the calculation of the capital gains and losses will be practically automatic in the future.
Wealth Tax
Parallel to the Income Campaign, the tax has been developed on the Patrimony, which should be declared by those taxpayers with a fee to enter (after applying the deductions and corresponding bonuses), and also those with a fee to enter that last year had with assets and rights with a value greater than 2 million euros. More than 205,000 statements of assets have been registered and the amount to be paid reaches 1,115 million euros.
