The validity of IDs that expire after the declaration of the alarm status is extended for one year


This measure is included in the Royal Decree-Law of extraordinary urgent measures to face the economic and social impact of COVID-19, approved by the Council of Ministers.

"The validity of the national identity document of persons of legal age who are holders of a document that expires from the date of entry into force of Royal Decree 463/2020 is extended for one year until the thirteenth day of March two thousand and twenty-one , of March 14, declaring the state of alarm for the management of the health crisis situation caused by COVID-19, "states the legal text.

It is also indicated that "the extension of the validity of the national identity document will allow recognized certificates incorporated into the same document for the same period to be renewed under the current procedure."
