Real Madrid began its legend in this competition by winning the Stade de Reims in the final.

On June 13, 1956, the Real Madrid inaugurated the winners of the European Cup after a historic match against Stade de Reims. The Whites started their legend in the maximum continental competition in the Parc des Princes in Paris, where they neutralized first a 0-2 and then went back a goal from Hidalgo. Rial, with a doublet, Di Stéfano Y Marquitos were the Real Madrid goal scorers in the final.

Previously, the Real Madrid, which supported the creation of this competition, debuted at the European Cup before the Servette on September 8, 1955 in Geneva. Miguel Muñoz scored the first Real Madrid goal in the tournament in that win by 0-2. The other rivals in that edition were Partizan and Milan.

63 years after that final, the Real Madrid is the best club in the history of the European Cup with 13 titles in 16 contested finals. He is also the one who has participated in more editions (49), the one that has achieved more victories (259) and the one that has scored the most goals (957).
