The Council of Ministers held today has been right and has referred to the General Courts for their knowledge and debate the Foreign Action Strategy in the period 2021-2024 where, for the first time, Tourism is included as one of the main lines of the Spanish foreign policy for this legislature.

For the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Reyes Maroto, “our foreign action must contribute to the tourism sector continuing to be an engine of growth and job creation that promotes a speedy recovery. It is important to note that tourism is an export industry par excellence, a generator of added value and an engine for attracting economic activity in Spain. One of the most relevant manifestations of economic diplomacy in the current context must be the recovery of international mobility ”.

The Foreign Action Strategy contains the orderly, sectoral and geographical expression of the priorities and medium-term objectives of Foreign Action, and includes the set of actions of bodies, agencies and public entities abroad.

Likewise, the strategy identifies the major world trends that Spain will have to face, establishes its position and defines its response in this regard. For this, the planning of the necessary material and human resources is defined.

The substantive axes of the Strategy are human rights, democracy, feminism and diversity; an integrated, fair and equitable global economy and society; more sustainable, resilient, livable and green planet; strengthened regional integration and multilateralism.
