Transport, Mobility and the Urban Agenda starts a campaign to raise awareness among public transport users in order to recover normalcy safely


The campaign, which includes videos and various graphic material, aims to make users aware that, in order to regain normalcy safely, it is essential to maintain social distance measures.

The aim is for travelers to internalize that compliance with the advice and precepts established by the health and transport authorities falls within their area of ​​responsibility and that they will have the collaboration of institutions and public and private transport companies so that that distance is properly met.

Rules for traveling by public transport

The campaign affects compliance with the main rules of use of public transport during the state of alarm:

  1. Do not use public transport if you are diagnosed with COVID-19, or if you or someone in your home has symptoms compatible with the disease.
  2. Avoid traveling if it is not strictly necessary. Whenever possible, use telematic means to carry out your work or your arrangements.
  3. If you have to get around, do it preferably on foot, by bicycle or in any other individual mode of transport.
  4. Check the schedules before leaving for your trip and schedule your trip in plenty of time. Stay informed about reduced services, shutdown stops and closed stations.
  5. Try to avoid public transport if you belong to a risk group.
  6. Avoid rush hours whenever possible.
  7. Avoid paying in cash. Preferably use the auto vending machines and bank card payment.
  8. Maintain respiratory hygiene standards.
  9. Wear a mask while using public transportation, both inside vehicles and at stations, stops, and hallways.
  10. Avoid, if possible, talking to other users or on the phone. Do not consume food or drinks.
  11. Try to maintain social distance from other users.
  • At station exits and entrances, always leave enough space with other users, especially if queues form when validating your ticket.
  • Distribute at bus stops, platforms and inside trains / buses so that social distance is maintained.
  • On escalators, keep a single row, without overtaking those in front, and keep at least two steps apart.
  • Do not use the elevators, except in essential cases.
  • Maintain a safe distance to the edge of the platform or roadway when the train / bus arrives, and do not approach the gates before the drop off of users who come on the train / bus.
  • Do not cross when getting on and off the train / bus. Do not rush when going down and going up. The train / bus will not leave until all travelers have alighted and alighted.

12. Pay attention to signaling, public address announcements, and directions from drivers and security personnel. It will help you prevent infections.
