UEFA postpones the European Championship until the summer of 2021

The Eurocopa 2020, that had to dispute between the 12 of June and the 12 of July of this year, has been postponed by the Executive Committee of the UEFA until the summer of 2021 due to the sanitary crisis that is living by the disease of the coronavirus .

In its statement, UEFA highlights that “the health of all those involved in the game is a priority, as well as avoiding unnecessary pressure on the national public services involved in the organization of matches. This measure will help them to conclude all the national competitions, currently stopped due to the coronavirus emergency ”.

"All UEFA club competitions and matches (including friendlies) of national clubs and teams, men's and women's, are suspended for the time being."

In addition, UEFA has announced that a "working group with the participation of leagues and club representatives is being created to examine the calendar solutions that would allow the completion of the current season."

The highest body of European football has communicated this decision after the meeting by videoconference with the presidents and general secretaries of the 55 national federations, as well as with representatives of the European Club Association, the European leagues and FIFPro Europe.
