The acting minister has been awarded in this forum with the prize of CERMI-Women in the category of "action for the benefit of women with disabilities" an award with which the organization recognizes the progressive presence of women with some type of disability in political and institutional life performing public responsibilities.

Valerio has valued in his intervention the effort that women and men with some disability carry out every day to develop their professional and personal life. He has also referred to the measures approved in the last year and that have a greater incidence for women, such as the increase in the widow's pension or the recovery of the contribution of non-professional caregivers. He also highlighted the text approved by all the political parties of the Congress in the Commission for Integral Disability Policies in the reform of Article 49 of the Constitution, highlighting the role of public authorities to guarantee a participatory, autonomous and independent life to the People with disabilities. In this area, he referred to the extension of the right of suffrage to all persons with disabilities.

In addition, he mentioned the group of self-employed people in the disability, which was even a request of CERMI itself, and that since January 1 of this year is considered cause for the perception of bonuses and reductions in the Statute of Autonomous Work.

In this line of government actions, the Minister of Labor highlighted the support for the social economy and special employment centers, among which the approval in the last Sectorial Employment Conference of the increase of 50 to 55% of the Minimum Interprofessional Salary stands out of subsidies for jobs with severe disabilities in these centers.

In spite of everything, Valerio confirmed that there is still a lot to do, and that "we need to favor future talent to save situations of discrimination with people with different abilities and, especially, in women."
