Algeciras, November 16, 2020. The spokesperson for the VOX Municipal Group in Algeciras has registered a motion for the city council to urge all the competent administrations so that families do not have to bear the cost of the masks, while their use is mandatory.

“The situation is critical and requires an immediate and forceful response. This group has already presented multiple proposals to alleviate basic needs and will continue to present as many as necessary, but today we propose the solution to an issue that affects, to a greater or lesser extent, all families: no mother should choose between buying milk or masks, no grandfather should choose between heating the home or buying masks, ”insisted Antonio Gallardo.

In the proposal registered by Gallardo, all the municipal groups that make up the plenary are requested to demand that the Junta de Andalucía provide the corresponding item in the budgets for the financing of the distributed material as long as they are mandatory for all residents over six years of age and, once the state of alarm has ended, to the applicant with a medical prescription, establishing the most appropriate and safe mechanism for its effective delivery to the neighbors.

In addition, the motion presented by VOX Algeciras also urges the government of the nation to partially finance the hygienic or surgical masks, once the state of alarm has ended and when their use is declared as recommended and not mandatory, and to present a Bill to amend the VAT Law to declare the acquisition of masks by individuals exempt from this tax.

To conclude, Antonio Gallardo wanted to recall that “many families are seriously affected by their economy and cannot afford to buy the most basic and necessary food, the more they will be able to cope with the extra cost of masks, we cannot forget that these people, who were previously contributors to the City Council, now need the City Council to help them with something as necessary as food and other basic products or services ”.
