The parliamentary group VOX has registered a series of questions to which they request a written answer from the Government.

On February 27, the visit that had been pending by Juan Carlos I's LHD (Landing Helicopter Dock) to the Port of Almería was canceled. This visit was to take place within the framework of the military maneuvers known as Gruflex 2020. It is an exercise carried out between the Alboran Sea and the Strait of Gibraltar that mobilizes resources from the Navy and the Army. The reason for the cancellation of the visit, according to the Naval Command, were "unsuccessful causes." From the party they want to know what were the reasons for canceling the visit. The question is whether there was information related to Covid19 that conditioned the suspension of that event.

However, the Navy kept the visit of the frigate Santa María to the Levante Dock of the Port of Almería. Despite this, the Santa María left earlier than planned without prior notice.

For all these reasons, VOX transmits the following questions to the Government:

  1. What reasons motivated the cancellation of visits to the LHD Juan Carlos I and the Santa María?
  2. Was the Ministry of Defense aware of the information provided by the World Health Organization regarding the COVID-19 pandemic?
  3. Why was the cancellation not notified in advance?

The Government now has, under Article 190 of the Regulations of the Congress, a period of 20 days to respond, and this period may be extended at the request of the Executive for another 20 days.
