Vox Ceuta has voted in favor of the package of measures to alleviate the effects of the economic crisis derived from the Covid-19 pandemic that was presented at the extraordinary plenary session of the Ceuta Assembly held this Saturday. These are actions aimed mostly at freelancers and small companies, which seek to alleviate losses and liquidity problems. In addition, important and historical demands of Ceuta entrepreneurs are met, such as the reduction of the import IPSI or the payment of this when the merchandise is sold and not when it is imported. For this reason, even without being “idyllic measures”, Vox Ceuta has voted in favor to help help those most affected by the economic crisis.
The spokesperson for the Vox Parliamentary Group, Carlos Verdejo, has first remembered the victims of the Covid-19 and has conveyed his condolences to the relatives, as well as a message of encouragement to those who are fighting against "this damn virus". He has also reached out to all the groups in the Assembly "to face the crisis of the city without fissures and leaving aside electoral revenues or political propaganda." "It is not a time to think about votes, it is not a time to think about our image, it is a time to save the city's productive fabric and to support the most vulnerable," he warned.
Going into assessing the concrete measures, Verdejo has indicated that "a total crisis has had to come for the Government to lower the single water bill for the provision of services to the Ceuta." A measure that the party has defended since its inception and with respect to which last week it presented a series of proposals to abolish taxes on basic supplies such as water, electricity and gas. "We want to highlight the reduction of the IPSI to fish, a demand from Vox defended insistently since before our entry into the Assembly, which will also help to consume fish regardless of the conspiracies that Morocco intends to orchestrate against our city," he also stated.
Regarding treasury and credit operations, Verdejo has acknowledged that, although "it is true that the City's indebtedness will increase significantly", "every possible effort must be made to keep the productive fabric afloat". "We are pleased to be able to vote in favor of paying the city's pending bills with suppliers immediately," Verdejo defended, adding: "There are and will be liquidity problems in Ceuta companies and the City must avoid increasing these problems, so the debts with Ceuta suppliers, worth 23 million euros, must be resolved ”.
Although Verdejo has also pointed out that the support "does not mean that we ignore the criticism", he did say: "Vox will approve with this vote this series of measures, in which we find common points with our proposals at both the national and local levels" . "We will be vigilant before the actions of the Government. It is the moment to save the productive fabric and the employment of the ceutíes, as well as to support in a decisive way, those who suffer the most from the consequences of this sanitary and transversal crisis ”, he added.
