VOX has voted against a home confinement in Ceuta that, the formation warns, will only manage to "destroy what little remains of our economic and business fabric." The formation has opposed this Tuesday to the "restrictive measures" proposed by the Government in the Board of Spokespersons convened to address the situation. While the Executive sought the consensus of all groups to request confinement in the city, VOX has defended that the closure of activities considered non-essential "will not solve anything."

The party insists that what is needed are more health means to control the Covid-19 pandemic and that the confinement proposed by the local government will fatally injure a local economy that has been in crisis for months. In line with VOX's position at the national level, the formation led by Juan Sergio Redondo opposes the curfew. "We have not approved the emergency decree in Congress and we are going to appeal it to the Constitutional Court, so in Ceuta we also oppose this restriction," said the president of VOX Ceuta.

"We are not going to support the hourly restriction, we are not going to support the restrictions on maritime communications as stated, nor are we going to support, under any circumstances, the closure of the hotel industry or home confinement ", Redondo stressed to add:" What we have supported is requesting more resources from Ingesa or the Ministry of Defense ”. And the thing is, VOX bets, among other measures, to resort to military doctors or even to health workers who are reservists in case of need.

"We have to insist that the city be provided with material, sanitary, and infrastructure resources so that Ceuta does not reach collapse and sanitary saturation, ”said Redondo. Otherwise, he points out, the virus will not be stopped, but Ceuta's economy will suffer an irreversible blow.
