VOX Granada has claimed, once again, that the Government promote the railway connection between the Costa Tropical and the capital of Granada, fulfilling our training with the commitment acquired with the Port Authority of Motril to defend this project before the institutions where VOX has representation.
Through two Non-Law Propositions in the Congress of Deputies and the Andalusian Parliament, an Institutional Declaration presented to the City Council of Granada and a Motion registered in the City Council of Motril, VOX has urged the Executive of the Nation to promote "the railway connection between the Port of Motril and the city of Granada ", as well as demanded that" in 2021 the award of the construction project of this infrastructure is put out to tender, and include the aforementioned project in the Spanish National Recovery and Resilience Plan for the period 2021-2023 ».
With the presentation and registration of our initiatives in the different institutions, VOX Granada formalizes the agreement with the Port Authority of Motril at the meeting held last week and in which "all parties agree that this is a historic opportunity for the Granada province ”, recalled Macarena Olona, VOX deputy for Granada.
The Port of Motril has presented a feasibility study on the railway connection between the port and the capital, carried out by the University of Granada. In the technical part of this study, the conclusion is reached that the train is “perfectly feasible”, as in the economic analysis, the sustainability of said project is guaranteed. Likewise, after its implementation, a volume of freight transport of 530,000 tons per year and 400,000 passengers per year is expected, and it would help to reduce polluting CO2 emissions and improve the competitiveness of the port.
