The councilor of Vox in the Santander City Council, Guillermo Pérez-Cosío, has once again demonstrated his commitment to the National Festival at the meeting of the Board of Directors of the Municipal Company Plaza de Toros de Santander.

The mayor recalled that "the function of the Council of the square is to support bullfighting, even taking the necessary risks to celebrate the festivities as occurs in other shows, something that has been lacking this year." "Of course, scrupulously observing the health rules for the prevention of Covid-19 established by the competent authority," he added.

The representative of Vox has indicated that "I showed my dissatisfaction with the suspension of the festivities this summer when there were already clear sanitary regulations that set the guidelines under which bullfights could be carried out."

For this reason, Pérez-Cosío has been convinced that "Santander has lost an opportunity this summer" to generate greater economic activity "by not supporting" the concessionaire company – Lances de Futuro – for the celebration of the Santiago Fair, even if it was "under a reduced and practically testimonial format". An example of the opposite has been the Plaza de El Puerto de Santa María (Cádiz), managed by the same company as Santander and which held a bullfight on August 6, "excessively" complying with health measures and achieving great success. .

Likewise, Pérez-Cosío has reiterated that "bullfighting is part of the Cultural Heritage of Spain and of the individual freedom of each person to decide whether or not to attend this type of show."

To conclude, the councilor of Vox has again denounced that the world of bullfighting "continues to suffer the attack of those who consider it a violent spectacle", but instead defend that Otegi or Josu Ternera are "men of peace".
