VOX in Aragon claims aid to the payment of rents. And also measures for the reactivation of the hotel industry. The proposal is aimed at Restaurants, Cafes and Bars, whether self-employed, individuals or legal entities, companies in the Aragonese Tourism Sector affected by the Covid-19 crisis.

The deputy Marta Fernández has registered in the Courts a proposal in which VOX proposes the granting of aid for the rental expenses of a business premises. Said aid, said Fernández, "will be destined to owners of hospitality businesses, self-employed natural or legal persons".

"And they would be of help equivalent to 50% of the rental income for a period of three months, or help equivalent to a lump sum per establishment, with a limit of € 3,000 per establishment," said the VOX deputy.

Likewise, VOX in Aragon calls for campaigns to accelerate the reactivation of domestic demand and rescue a strategic sector such as tourism-hospitality. A sector that employs 27,000 people in the province of Zaragoza and 40,000 throughout Aragon.

Large expenses

Along with personnel costs, rent is one of the largest and most representative expenses in any business. The lack of adoption of measures by the Government of Spain, to suspend the payment of the leases of business premises during the inactivity period, has notably compromised the liquidity of the companies. In many cases they have had to resort to external financing (ICOS, private loans …) to be able to meet these current expenses.

Following the recently imposed restrictions to contain the Covid-19 epidemic outbreak, capacity and opening hours have been further limited. All this has led the sector to a very critical economic-financial situation.

According to the latest impact figures, corresponding to Phase 2 made more flexible, 41% of the hotel establishments in the province of Zaragoza are considering permanently ceasing their activity. 18% believe that it will only be able to remain open for a month or less. 45% believe that they will have to lower the blind in less than three months. 30% would last a maximum of one year, and only 7% believe that they would have the capacity to last beyond a year. They are internal data of the Associations of hotel establishments as of yesterday, August 6.

The situation in the restaurant sector has suffered devastating consequences due to the closure of all establishments. With this initiative, VOX in Aragón maintains its commitment to the productive forces. And this instead of adjusting to ideological agendas, which have little or nothing to do with current economic reality.
