VOX has bet, this Tuesday from the Senate, on the relocation of military units in areas of ‘emptied Spain’ to reactivate them in population and economics. Faced with a motion by the PP for the reopening of the Monte la Reina facilities in Toro (Zamora), providing them with military activity, Senator Yolanda Merelo has indicated the measure as "reasonable and indispensable", but has asked to take another step and extend the initiative to other areas. However, Merelo has acknowledged that it is difficult for him to be "optimistic" about it because "regardless of the color of the government at the head of the Nation, the inter-territorial imbalances have only worsened."

"This option should not be limited only to the Monte la Reina barracks in Toro, but must be valued for the purposes of implementation in all those areas where beneficial effects could be reported to reduce inter-territorial inequalities that the current crisis has not. done more than increase, ”said the VOX senator for Ceuta. In addition, he has made special mention of the autonomous cities that, although they are not included in the concept of ‘emptied Spain’, they are areas that “require special political involvement on the part of the Government” and this was highlighted by Merelo.

The senator has indicated how the relocation of military units in Ceuta and Melilla would contribute to "alleviating the extreme situation in which they find themselves." And it is that, both are suffering an economic asphyxia by Morocco that for months has kept the borders closed and has ended cross-border trade between both territories.
