Jerez de la Frontera, October 17, 2020. – The team from VOX Jerez has expressed interest for the progress of the works to prepare the master plan for the archaeological site of Asta Regia, which they started last may with the collaboration of the Jerez Museum and the University of Cádiz.

It should be remembered that the Councilor for Culture, Francisco Beds, assured in September, during a visit to the area of the territorial delegate of Historical Heritage, Mercedes Colombo, who "in a few weeks" it would be ready and the first results of this document would be released. Now it is just one month since that visit and, for now, the government team has not presented to the public the project for the recovery of this important archaeological site.

In the same way, from VOX Jerez we ask the Junta de Andalucía to do everything on its part to carry out, as soon as possible, the purchase of the land where Asta Regia is located, in the rural neighborhood of Mesas de Asta, since it an essential step for the enhancement of this historic place.

At VOX Jerez we believe that the ancient Roman city of Asta Regia can become a very important tourist claim for the municipality and, therefore, an economic boost that generates wealth and employment, in addition to knowing more about the history of Jerez and preserve its historical heritage.
