Jerez de la Frontera, November 17, 2020. – Members of the local VOX Jerez team have maintained a meeting telephone, due to the restrictions by the Covid-19, with the Secretary of the Peña Los Cernícalos, Adriana Inés Galván.

It should be remembered that this peña is the oldest entity in the province of Cádiz, and the third oldest in the world. It is over 50 years old. It is one of the busiest in the city.

His secretary, Adriana Inés Galván, has enlightened us about the current situation of flamenco, and future projects. The pain has a new board of directors. Its president is Manuel Jiménez Verdugo.

Due to the serious crisis caused by Covid-19, the rocks flamenco women in the city have all their paralyzed activity. Currently, they are planning to hold a food and toy drive. “We would like, when possible, that the artists did life in the rock. Jerez is the land of art and love. There is little industry here. What we have is art”.

He has revealed his Projects for the future, when the situation improves, how to celebrate again festivals, meetings… His main concern is “raise awareness among artists to regularize their situation and train them from a young age, or from the beginning ”.

Since VOX Jerez, we have transferred our concern about the situation in the sector. We are committed to support flamenco as fundamental value of our culture and essential pillar of tourism. We propose the promotion of an International Year of Flamenco to convert to Sherry in international benchmark.

We urge the City Council to promote and hire local flamenco artists. To the rest of administrations, we request the concession of helps extraordinary by Covid-19. We have denounced in the Andalusian Parliament, through our deputies Ángela Mulas and Benito Morillo, that Jerez has been excluded from the commemoration of the 10th anniversary of the declaration of Flamenco as Intangible Heritage of Humanity.

The VOX Jerez project is promote flamenco in schools through talks, or as part of a subject. The goal is to educate and train the futures artists since childhood so they can promote flamenco in a more cultured way around the world. The professionalization and promotion of flamenco are among the objectives of our training.

Jerez is considered the "Cradle of Flamenco Art". This city has been, since the last century, the city that more and better singers, dancers and guitarists have given to the history of Flamenco.
