VOX spokesman in the Provincial Council, Juan Francisco Rojas, has presented the two motions that will take the party to the plenary tomorrow. In the first place, he explained the motion to draw up a collaboration agreement with the Andalusian Government for the creation of a provincial transport voucher for young people.
VOX believes that public investment in infrastructure has to be a priority of public spending and a basic tool of state policy. Juan Francisco Rojas explains that "with this measure, job creation is pursued and thus favor the economic development of society and enable inter-territorial solidarity."
The province of Almeria has suffered for many decades disadvantage in the competition for economic development, due to geographical isolation.
Rojas affirms that “one of the big bets, if not, the main objective of this legislature lies in the fight against the depopulation of the towns of the interior of the province ”.
In the other motion presented, telecommunications companies are urged to meet the objective set by the European digital agenda.
Internet becomes essential as a fundamental tool for development in our society. However, we find that many municipalities in our province live outside this reality because telephone companies do not provide them with a decent and sufficient connection.
According to the European Digital Agenda, in this year 2020, 100% of the population should have access to the Internet of at least 30 Mbps.
But the reality, according to data from the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation, is that, in 2019, 66 of the 103 municipalities in the province of Almería have NGA white areas, that is, those that do not have coverage of broadband networks of new generation.
Therefore, the VOX group in the Provincial Council of Almeria, proposes for approval in plenary that the Government of Spain is requested to urge telecommunication companies to comply with the European Digital Agenda and, in addition, a mandatory schedule should be established that favors the gradual and effective implementation of connections.
