The Municipal Group of VOX has urged the government team of the Granada City Council to promote the creation of a Working Group so that the Palace of Exhibitions and Congresses becomes a dynamic axis of the capital's economy, with the impulse and support of the institutions of the province.

Onofre Miralles, spokesman for the Municipal VOX Group, explained that “the Granada Conference Center, despite having very worthy human teams and being an undoubted economic engine, is in deficit and at the time the cost of its construction fell on the pockets of taxpayers directly. In addition, the current COVID-19 crisis has caused "that hotel occupancy in Granada falls below 30% and the estimated closure of 20% of hospitality businesses has occurred, a true economic tsunami."

«The city of Granada has a large infrastructure that has a direct impact on commerce, restaurants and the hotel plant in our city, which has a very direct impact on the economy of Granada since they are the recipients of 90% of the impact of the congresses and conventions held in said facility, and hence the Congress Palace must go hand in hand with institutions such as the City Council of Granada, the Junta de Andalucía, the University of Granada, the Diputación de Granada, the Chamber of Commerce, Federation of Hospitality, Convention Bureau, etc .. to encourage the development of congresses and events associated with Granada, "insisted Onofre Miralles.

With all this, «there are more than enough reasons why we urge the City Council to assume the role of driving force behind the reinvention of the Exhibition and Conference Center that we must start, we understand that with a work table in which the management model is studied , the possibility of rescuing the administrative concession, and the start-up of a project to modernize this emblematic infrastructure in Granada, ”concluded the spokesperson for the Municipal Group of VOX.
